Bouwers van WK-stadion in Qatar wachten maanden op salaris

DOHA (ANP) Zo'n honderd buitenlandse arbeiders die een van de stadions voor het WK voetbal van 2022 in Qatar aan het bouwen zijn, wachten al maanden op hun salaris. Amnesty International heeft de zaak onlangs aangekaart bij de Qatarese autoriteiten, de wereldvoetbalbond FIFA en het lokale organisatiecomité. Volgens de mensenrechtenorganisatie wordt sinds kort weer salaris overgemaakt naar de bouwers. Het gaat om stadion Al Bayt in het noordelijk gelegen Al Khor. Het stadion, dat op een reusachtige tent lijkt, gaat plaats bieden aan 60.000 voetbalfans. De bouw kost zo'n 770 miljoen euro.
