Europarlementariërs vragen Merkel om transparantie in EU

BRUSSEL (ANP) Een honderdtal Europarlementariërs vraagt bondskanselier Angela Merkel om regels in te voeren voor transparante EU-besluitvorming en lobby-activiteiten. Dat zou zij moeten doen tijdens het Duitse EU-voorzitterschap vanaf 1 juli. In de brief, medeondertekend door GroenLinks, PvdA en Partij voor de Dieren, zeggen de parlementariërs dat ondoorzichtige praktijken in Brussel de EU-burgers een slechte dienst bewijzen. Ze verzoeken Merkel een einde te maken aan contacten en besluitvorming achter gesloten deuren.
Zo dringen de briefschrijvers erop aan verslaggeving in te voeren bij de 150 EU-organen die de vergaderingen van de lidstaten (de raad van ministers) voorbereiden. Ook vinden ze het "onaanvaardbaar" dat de onderhandelingsposities van de lidstaten niet systematisch worden vastgelegd en openbaar gemaakt.
